Air Spring Installation Guide: Step-by-Step Tips

Proper installation is essential for getting reliable performance and a long service life from an air spring. Whether installing a truck air spring, bus air spring, or industrial air spring, following the correct procedure can help prevent leakage, uneven loading, and premature wear.

1. Prepare Before Installation

Before removing the old air spring, make sure the vehicle or equipment is safely supported. Fully release the air pressure from the suspension system before disconnecting any air lines.

Check the replacement air spring against the old one. Confirm the part number, dimensions, mounting holes, air inlet, and installation height are correct.

2. Remove the Old Air Spring

Disconnect the air fitting and mounting hardware carefully. Inspect the surrounding components for damaged bolts, brackets, air lines, or mounting surfaces. Clean dirt and rust from the mounting area before installing the new air spring.

3. Install the New Air Spring

Position the new rubber air spring correctly and align the mounting holes. Tighten the mounting bolts according to the equipment or vehicle manufacturer's specifications.

Make sure the air inlet is correctly positioned and connect the air line securely. Avoid twisting, folding, or stretching the air spring during installation.

4. Inflate and Check

Slowly add air pressure to the recommended operating level. Check the air spring for:

• Air leakage

• Correct ride height

• Proper alignment

• Abnormal deformation

• Contact with nearby components

Apply a suitable leak-detection solution around the air fitting if necessary. Never exceed the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

5. Final Inspection

After installation, inspect the suspension again and make sure the air spring moves freely without rubbing against surrounding parts. For vehicles, perform a short test drive and recheck the system.
